Sunday morning
Praise the dawning
It's just a restless feeling by my side
Early dawning
Sunday morning
It's just the wasted years so close behind
Watch out the world's behind you
There's always someone around you who will call
It's nothing at all
Sunday morning
And I'm falling
I've got a feeling I don't want to know
Early dawning
Sunday morning
It's all the streets you crossed, not so long ago
Watch out the world's behind you
There's always someone around you who will call
It's nothing at all
I walk the streets alone On feeble bones I ride My sins are etched in stone I got no place to hide
Well, I was unshakable In what I did believe I feel so breakable But have I been deceived
You showed me your paradise And your carnival of souls But my heart keeps telling me That ain't the place to go
Well, I'm not invincible So I want you to leave Well, I'm so convincible But have I been deceived
I take your words and try them on Yeah, it's a perfect fit, boy You tell me one size fits us all Yeah, like an old straight jacket Well, tell me why I'm so afraid
All my words are spoken All my words are spoken All my words are spoken In a stolen prayer
I remember yesterday When things were black and white Never thought I'd get confused On what was wrong and right
Well, I'm not unbreakable With armor on my skin Well, it's not unthinkable I could be fooled again
I take your words and try them on Yeah, it's a perfect fit, boy You tell me one size fits us all Yeah, like an old straight jacket Well, tell me why I'm so afraid
All my words are spoken All my words are spoken All my words are spoken In a stolen prayer
You steal another minute from my life You cut a little deeper with your knife You steal a little breath from my air And you don't care And even thought I'm choking All my words are spoken
I take your words and try them on Yeah, it's a perfect fit, boy You tell me one size fits us all Yeah, like an old straight jacket
Take this world and try it on Man, you're looking good, boy Stick your neck out on the block So you won't miss nothing
Stretch your finger, grab your hair Don't you feel like screaming Feel the blood rush from your veins Now you're a perfect zombie Now I'm on my knees
All my words are spoken All my words are spoken All my words are spoken All my words are spoken All my words are spoken In a stolen prayer
This could be heaven This could be heaven This could be heaven for everyone In these days of cool reflection You come to me and everything seems alright In these days of cold affections You sit by me - and everything's fine This could be heaven for everyone This world could be fed, this world can be fun This could be heaven for everyone This world could be free, this world can be one In this world of cool deception Just your smile can smooth my ride These troubled days of cruel rejection, hmm You come to me, soothe my troubled mind Yeah, this could be heaven for everyone This world could be fed, this world can be fun This should be love for everyone, This world should be free, this world can be one We should bring love to our daughters and sons Love, love, love, this could be heaven for everyone You know that This could be heaven for everyone This could be heaven for everyone Listen - what people do to other souls They take their lives - destroy their goals Their basic pride and dignity Is stripped and torn and shown no pity When this should be heaven for everyone
Lost in captivity, cuddled in a warm embrace, the restlessness slowly became unbearable. Lured by the lust for knowledge, for conquering the world, the wings spread wide open, leaving behind the cosy feeling of protection. Very soon after, freedom took its place and surrounded everything in a cold embrace. In a world of stone, freedom tasted so sweet that everything else had no value left. Eventually, it all fell down on being just another lure. While the hunger increased, the world was covered in a heavy dazedness. Freedom got loose and there was nothing left except for a bare, senseless, meaningless space.
A while ago, a very dear friend of mine had a final request. I shall honor it in the time I have left.
“And if you don’t know Which to Do Of all the things in front of you, Then what you’ll have when you are through Is just a mess without a Clue …” ~Winnie the Pooh
A little boy me went fishing in a wooden boat Sitting there for hours in the cold Patience is a virtue til we die Then a ripple in the water caught my eye
Sometimes we don't know what we're waiting for That's the time to be the first one on the dance floor We go from green to blue to gold to black Breathe deep, who knows how long this will last
Only was last week I learned to drive Stole my Mother's keys and drove all night Christine never showed it's 4am Started up Mum's car drove home again
Sometimes we don't know what we're waiting for That's the time to be the first one on the dance floor We go from green to blue to gold to black Breathe deep, who knows how long this will last
One year ago I kissed my bride Now I wait to hear my baby's cry Woman showed me all that she knew then To cut himself down man's born again
Sometimes we don't know what we're waiting for That's the time to be the first one on the dance floor We go from green to blue to gold to black Breathe deep, who knows how long this will last
Christine died and now I'm here alone What I wouldn't give to be on that wooden boat
I remembered black skies The lightning all around me I remembered each flash As time began to blur Like a startling sign That fate had finally found me And your voice was all I heard That I get what I deserve
So give me reason To prove me wrong To wash this memory clean Let the floods cross the distance in your eyes Give me reason To fill this hole Connect the space between Let it be enough to reach the truth that lies Across this new divide
There was nothing in sight But memories left abandoned There was nowhere to hide The ashes fell like snow And the ground caved in Between where we were standing And your voice was all I heard That I get what I deserve
So give me reason To prove me wrong To wash this memory clean Let the floods cross the distance in your eyes Across this new divide
(Guitar solo 15 sec.)
In every loss In every lie In every truth that you'd deny And each regret And each goodbye Was a mistake too great to hide And your voice was all I heard That I get what I deserve
So give me reason To prove me wrong To wash this memory clean Let the floods cross the distance in your eyes Give me reason To fill this hole Connect the space between Let it be enough to reach the truth that lies Across this new divide Across this new divide Across this new divide
